JÄGER gained experience and competence in this realm during the construction of numerous caverns and shafts. Shafts are sunk using both conventional drill and blast methods and even by deploying tunnel boring machines. In 2004, JÄGER achieved a major innovation constructing a shaft using a shield machine and a precast reinforced concrete segments.
