Zimmerberg rescue shafts

As member of a consortium, JÄGER built three turnkey emergency exit shafts for the Zimmerberg Base Tunnel, between Zürich and Thalwil. The Lätten, Kilchberg and Brunau shafts are 61 m, 72 m and 34 m deep, respectively. The Lätten and Kilchberg shafts were excavated using the drill and blast method and excavators. The Brunau shaft could only be sunk using excavators because of the prevailing poor geology. All three emergency exit shafts are equipped with air lock and shelter ventilation, fire extinguisher piping and self-propelled shaft elevators.
