Jäger Bau GmbH has been awarded with the construction of a storage cavern for the existing hydro power plant "Samina" in the city of Vaduz (Principality of Liechtenstein) in 2009. This small power station will be converted to a pumped storage hydro power plant. The start of construction has been delayed remarkably due to extensive environmental compatibility assessments resulting in a commencement of the site installation in October 2011 only.

The excavation of the storage cavern (50.000 m³) has been done by drill & blast method. The adit is right next to the existing head race tunnel requiring utmost caution during the initial blasts. Further special attention had to been taken to a preferably low noise level execution since the site is located within a residential area.
